Like any person that is over weight and out of shape, I had tried all sorts of gyms and diets. My daughter was always talking about this great program she found called Crossfit. Having never seen the results I hoped for with traditional gyms, I decided to go and see for myself. It was eight months ago I walked into Crossfit Vacaville and little did I know that it was my first step in a life altering experience. For the first time in a long time I had hope. Don’t get me wrong, I was scared out of my mind. From the strange language,( W.O.D’s, burpees’s, and Power Cleans), the seemingly endless energy of the gym’s owner and trainer’s, and to the loud boisterous words of encouragement from everyone in the gym. Here was a world that was completely foreign to me. It was an environment that was so completely different than a traditional gym that I thought this might actually work for me. And yes it has worked for me. Eight months after struggling with the beginners work out, I am doing things I never thought possible. And not to mention 50 pounds lighter. Crossfit has found a way to incorporate strength training and endurance training into simple and effective workouts that can be done in a relatively short period of time. No workout is ever the same, eliminating the boredom from going to a gym and getting on a machine day after day. I can’t tell you how fabulous it feels to know that I am getting stronger and fitter every day. The sense of empowerment I feel is amazing. I know now that there is nothing I can’t accomplish. (And there is the added perks of actually seeing simple things like shoulder definition, no more slipping bra straps). I am far from finished. I have a long way to go, but with the help of Vacaville Crossfit it will happen. ‘Strong is the new skinny’.

Some exercises will be familiar and many will be new, so you will always be challenged to learn new things.
